Save Energy
Using less electricity and gas in the first place is the most important thing we can do to save money and cut carbon emissions.
Good insulation allows us to use less energy so we’d like to make sure that every home in the Bradford-on-Avon Community Area is fully insulated by 2015.
To help us achieve that goal, throughout 2010 and into 2011 we will be working with British Gas to upgrade over 100 homes, 3 schools and 3 community buildings. Click on British Gas Green Streets to find out more.

Make your own Energy
With new improved technologies and new tariffs generating your own energy has never been so attractive. Under the new Feed in Tariffs, energy companies will be required to buy all independently generated small-scale energy at favourable rates, providing ~ 6-8% rate of return on investment. So what is Climate Friendly Bradford-on-Avon doing about this?
CFB's Micro Generation Group is exploring the potential for a bulk buy of photovoltaic panelspanels which use energy from the sun to produce electricity.

o Discounts through bulk-buys will enhance returns
o Small scale generation should benefit from the enhanced Feed In Tariffs
o Our carbon footprint will be reduced as solar power produces no CO² emissions
.
Contact us to find out more about the Micro Generation Group and learn more about energy generation at the Energy Saving Trust or visit the Transition Town Marlow website where a successful bulk buy scheme has already been developed. Website details on our Knowledge Bank page.
