Sustainable Food Group
Our new Sustainable Food and Drink Group is now live! 14 people attended the very first meeting on 6th February 2012. If you would be interested in joining please contact us via climatechampions@gmail.com.
Growing our own food has loads of benefits:
· It tastes better
· It can be produced with few, if any, chemical
· We get more exercise through digging, weeding etc – it’s good for us, really!
It reduces CO² emissions through lower transport costs and less packaging.
Allotments
Even if you don’t have the space to grow your own, you could consider getting an allotment. There are a number of allotment schemes in the area. If you are interested, try the Bradford-on-Avon Town Council.
Community Supported Agriculture
If you are thinking about larger scale production, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) scheme might be appropriate. BoACA (Bradford on Avon Community Agriculture is now firmly established. If you want to learn more about it visit the BoACA website or email boaca.ltd@gmail.com
We would love to hear about your experiences in growing your own produce. Please email us with your stories at: climatechampions@gmail.com
Even if you can’t produce your own, food produced by local farmers or co-operatives offers many benefits including supporting the local economy.
