Solar Water Heating Panels
A resident of BoA
I have had solar water heating for three years and, with a mainly south facing house, I find that during the summer months I do not use my gas fired boiler at all.
My hot water from April to October is provided fully by the solar panels with the tank reaching 64 degrees centigrade much of the time – very hot water! During the winter months with short, dark days I have to use the boiler for hot water for about an hour every two days, although with bright, frosty days I can reduce that to about l5 minutes a day. Obviously when the sun shines I can reduce the heating needed for the house for several hours.
I pay by monthly direct debit and with summer months giving me a steady credit I have maintained the total cost for heat and hot water at £300 per annum.
I must add that mine is a single person household and obviously a family would use considerably more hot water than I need.
