Smart Technology Lighting - Reducing Costs for Bradford on Avon

As well as the British Gas Green Streets project and the Micro Generation Group's investigation into photovoltaic panelspanels which use energy from the sun to produce electricity, members of CFB are also working with Wiltshire Council on a part-time lighting scheme. Under this scheme certain street lamps will automatically switch off between the hours of 12 midnight and 5:30 am in an attempt to save energy and reduce light pollution. For more details click here

In December, the Town Council gave their support to 67 lights being included in the scheme across Bradford on Avon. Final approval is due in January 2011 with implementation expected in the first quarter 2011.
