Zero Waste Group

Waste Group

As the population grows, waste becomes an ever increasing problem. Our landfill sites are rapidly filling up and there is a desperate need to rethink the way we deal with our waste.

The Waste Group, which meets once a month, is working towards finding ways to reduce the amount of waste created in the local community and is encouraging better ways of reusing and recycling unwanted material.

We need to acknowledge that we can’t just throw stuff away – there is no “away” !!

The Waste Group has
  • ·      Organized bags swaps – giving reusable jute bags in exchange for plastic carriers
  • ·      Established good relationships with the Bradford-on-Avon Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and local      councilors
  • ·      Written letters and lobbied for improved waste solutions
  • ·      Published articles in the Gudgeon – a Bradford-on-Avon monthly publication

NOW, we want to press for improved recycling facilities and join in the effort to keep all parts of the Community Area free from rubbish. A major part of this will be for it to become plastic-bag free.

If you would like to join us or find out about the date of our next meeting please contact us at the email address below. Should you not be able to come to regular meetings, we are still very interested in ideas or suggestions, so please do contact us at:  climatechampions@gmail.com
